Why Seek Therapy?

Therapy Can Help

Adults and children alike experience times when therapy or counseling may be helpful or even necessary.  Symptoms that often bring people to therapy can include:

  •  depression
  • anxiety
  • grief and loss
  •  trouble at work or school
  • issues with relationships
  • overwhelming feelings
  • substance abuse
  •  addictions
  • undesirable behavior in oneself or children.

When we experience these things, we want change.  Therapy can help. Whether you are seeking help for a specific problem or are someone who is experiencing life as going well, but you feel you want to make changes to enhance your personal growth, therapy can help you.

Treatment Focus

My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. This is achieved by , listening to your concerns and building a trusting, non-judgemental partnership where we work together to identify goals, and learn skills that will help you live your best life.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, it is possible to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to better their communication and strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both partners and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your communication and  relationship.

What to expect in Therapy

Talk Therapy

Therapy is based on creating a trusting working relationship and one way to achieve this is through talking!  Traditional talk therapy may be just what is needed in a setting with a professional who can listen, help guide and offer strategies and tools to help create change.

Expressive Techniques

Sometimes talking isn't enough.  I use many techniques involving art, guided visualizations, as well as use of the sand tray.  Many think these interventions are for children alone, but many adults find these strategies helpful as well.  They can be especially powerful when a person is feeling stuck, or needs a different approach to move them out of over thinking and into a more experiential place.

Methods of Payment

Payment is due at time of service including insurance co-pays.  I accept private payment, as well as some insurances.  Please call if you have questions about your particular plan.

About Me

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I love my work.  I have been in the field for over 20 years and have served in a variety of capacity's.  I also teach college courses in Psychology and Early Childhood Education.

I enjoy working with people of  all ages and backgrounds and am honored to share the healing journey with those I work with.

I have extensive training in working with young children and in infant mental health.  My early career started in the preschool setting working as a teacher and then as my education continued, I began consulting with with preschools and working with children and families in a mental health capacity.

I have been a foster parent, as well as collaborated with social services as a therapist, so I have gained a wide perspective of knowledge and experience in this area.

I am a member of the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and have served on the Executive Board of the California Association for Play Therapists.

While I enjoy working with children, I also enjoy working with adults either individually or as a couple.    I have had the honor of witnessing how healing can change a life and getting to be a part of that is truly a gift.
